Young Life is a worldwide Christian ministry that reaches out to students from middle school to college and helps them develop their faith and develop the skills and abilities they’ll need to succeed in life. Young Life is present in over 100 countries across the globe, and their Fort Bend chapter in Sugar Land has special programs to provide aid and support to teen moms, youth with disabilities, and other young people who are struggling.

Salvation Army accepts donations of virtually anything in good condition, from clothing and shoes to large furniture and vehicles. The Salvation Army is one of the world’s largest charitable organizations, and proceeds from their thrift stores, as well as cash donations, go towards funding their adult rehabilitation programs, prison ministries, veterans affairs services, elderly services, assistance in missing person cases, and combatting human trafficking all over the world.

Habitat for Humanity is another well-known charity worldwide that operates an office and many services in Sugar Land and Fort Bend county. They believe that everyone deserves a decent place to live, and they seek to make that happen through home construction, home repair for the elderly, disaster response teams across the globe, and other programs. Their leading goal is to focus on shelter first, which they do by employing those in need and volunteers to build homes, which are provided to the homeless at low cost to help people who are underprivileged or impoverished climb up and establish a better life for themselves.
Habitat for Humanity ReStores are donation centers and home improvement stores that sell new and used building materials, furniture, appliances, home decor and more for a very affordable price. You can donate any of these things at the ReStore location listed above, and the proceeds go towards helping build affordable housing for the needy in Fort Bend County. the donation center is open from 10 am to 6 pm Wednesday through Saturday, and from 1 pm to 5 pm on Tuesdays. If you have an old car you no longer use, Habitat for Humanity will also accept it as a donation, and the proceeds from the sale of those will again go towards solidifying and furthering their mission.
